• Researches composite materials, including: manufacturing, design, modeling, simulation, durability, joining and repair.
• Works in manufactured materials used in airplanes, vehicles and soldiers' protective gear, among other applications.
• Currently working on projects funded by the U.S. Army, the Office of Naval Research and the FAA.
• Leads a university-industry consortium with 60+ companies participating. The consortium works on composite materials for industrial products. GM, Dow, Boeing, Lockheeed Martin and Owens Corning are among the companies represented.
