- Research focuses on the physics and chemistry of "soft" materials, including colloids, polymers and biomolecular materials.
- Works to create engineering applications for these materials in the areas of energy conversion, nanotechnology, biotechnology, structured and complex fluids.
- Has partnered with Procter and Gamble, DuPont, Syngenta, International Flavors and Fragrances, the National Science Foundation, Sandia National Laboratories, NASA, the Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health and the Army Research Laboratory.
- Recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the DuPont Young Investigator Award and was named an European Union Erasmus Mundus Scholar.
