- Coordinates UD's Special Collections manuscripts unit. Johnson Melvin is highly knowledgeable about archival management of library manuscript collections.
- Special Expertise includes primarily the management of congressional collections and personal papers of politicians and public policy makers. She served as project archivist for the papers of John J. Williams, U.S. Senator from Delaware (Williams served from 1947-1970). Melvin also managed several other congressional papers projects.
- Well versed in the local history of Newark, Del. Johnson Melvin edited a recent collection of the city's history.
- Can also discuss research in primary sources, scrapbooks, diaries and the archival records of local organizations, primarily women's organizations.
